I paid full price for cereal (well, minus a coupon, of course, but what I mean is it wasn’t on sale) at Harris Teeter today. I want you to know I had good reason, and that reason was the General Mills offer of a free movie ticket with purchase of two boxes. We were invited [...] Mr. Jones came shopping with me today. I love the man dearly, but he is an Impulse Shopper. He does not strategize and plan and carefully cull the proper coupons to go with the proper sales. He sees stuff he wants and thinks about buying it. However, I am someone who will say things like [...] Let me just say that I ventured briefly into Old Navy today, lured by their Black Friday offer of $15 jeans, and nothing is worth that. Nothing. I mean, people were being polite and everything, nobody was having fistfights, but I have never seen a clothing store so crowded. It was nuts. Anyway. I went to [...] So I was left with extra rice after I made curry, and of course I didn’t want to waste it. Luckily, I’d just gotten some frozen stir-fry mix on sale today — green, red and yellow peppers and onions — and we had some chicken breasts. I was going to do sweet and sour, but [...] I thought it might be time for a break from my delicious standby, the burrito. I love the burrito; he is a staple of my gastronomical life. If I had to run away with one food product, the burrito might be it. Popcorn would come in a close second, but it doesn’t really have any [...] Look at these! I’ve made these once before, and they’re amazing for work breakfasts. They freeze well, and you just take one out, wrap it in a paper towel, nuke it for a minute and 15 seconds or so, and shake some Sriracha on there. Voila: Heaven with your coffee! Recipe inside. Sorry, I had to use my cell phone camera for this one, so it’s blurry. Pretend I was running by on my way to more savings. $51.24! Details inside. We are not very brand-loyal in our house, as is probably evident. But there are a few things we don’t budge on. It’s Heinz ketchup or nothing. We get the special wheat cat litter no matter what. And Mr. Jones, much though I love him, is a total soda junkie. From a selfish perspective this is [...] I finally made it to the spices. Hurrah for small victories. Harris Teeter’s Express Lane usually lists sale prices, which makes coupon planning really easy — hanging out on the couch beats hours in the store any day, even when the store is nice, which Harris Teeter is. However, for some reason they didn’t list which [...] It is indicative of the way things have been going lately that I went up to Harris Teeter tonight specifically to look at spices, because they are having a special where some McCormick spices are half off, plus you get a coupon for a certain amount off your next order with every purchase of two [...] |
