Our Target recently became a SuperTarget. I hadn’t shopped there for groceries yet, though, because (a) they don’t double coupons and (b) you pretty much have to fight your way through teeming masses of miserable people just to get to the juice boxes or whatnot. This week, though, their ad was Thanksgiving-oriented and thus featured a bunch of food products, and some of them were inarguably good deals.
Thus:
The rundown:
- Market Pantry peanut butter, $1.07 (and this was not even a sale price! ARE THEY CRAZY? THEY ARE JUST GIVING THIS PEANUT BUTTER AWAY!)
- Kraft macaroni and cheese, three at 87 cents each (I thought this was cheaper than Harris Teeter’s price, but I was wrong; it’s actually 77 cents at HT. Lesson learned)
- Betty Crocker au gratin potatoes, sale 79 cents, minus coupon for 35 cents off = 44 cents (regular price about $2, for heaven’s sake!)
- Market Pantry tomato soup, five at 67 cents each (here I was correct; it’s 79 cents at HT)
- Del Monte canned vegetables, eight at 45 cents each, minus coupon for $1 off eight = 33 cents each
- McCormick oregano, sale 74 cents, minus coupon for 50 cents off = 24 cents
- Coke, three 12-packs at $3 each
- Kraft Philly cream cheese, four at $1.19 each, minus coupon for $1 off three = 94 cents each
- VitaminWater, $1.07 (I was thirsty!)
My total was $25.37, and I had a $5 gift card left over from the Glade promotion they were doing last week, so $20.37 out of pocket. My receipt claims I saved $18.14, which would be 42 percent. 53 percent if you count the gift card (and I do!) Not great, but not bad for my first attempt at Target bargaining.
