Adventures at Target: 1/24/10

First things first: Mr. Jones got a job! WOO HOO! I cannot tell you how excited we are. He starts Feb. 8, and I would be lying if I said we weren’t indulging in a little debauchery: We ordered Papa John’s the night we found out, and then last night we went out to eat — granted, to Fuddrucker’s, but still.

With that in mind, we went to Target in a joyous mood. And everything went our way. Observe:

  • Glass cleaner, $1.12
  • H2GO stainless steel water bottles, pack of 2, sale $14.99
  • H2GO stainless steel water bottle, sport top, sale $4.99
  • Weather stripping for our very rattly door, two packages, sale $4.18 each
  • Olay Regenerist cleanser, two bottles, sale $5.49 each, minus one coupon for $3 off and one coupon for $1 off = $6.98, or $3.49 each
  • Gillette CustomPlus razors, 10-pack, $7.39, minus coupon for $3 off = $4.39
  • Pyrex glass bowl, $5.94
  • Friskies cat food, seven cans, $3.08 (44 cents each)
  • Scotch packing tape, two rolls, sale $2.98 each

So our total after coupons was $66.80, or $70.49 with tax. But! I had gone to customer service before the trip for our very first effort at price adjusting. We bought some new sheets a week ago, and today they were featured as on sale in the Target weekly ad. I’d never done the price adjustment thing before and was a bit nervous, but it was super easy; the lady just scanned my receipt, said “$11.01 back on your card,” and sent me on my way. Yay!

So that’s $11.01 off the total right there. And I also had a Target gift card from my last prescription there, for $10. So that brings it down to $49.48. But wait, there’s more! Olay is offering a $15 mail-in rebate on any two Regenerist products. So I’ll get $15 back from that, meaning you could theoretically say the total spent today was $34.48, or about half price. Awesome.
