Super Doubles Madness: 2/17/10

Harris Teeter is having Super Doubles again! Be still my cheap and beating heart.

(I love how I managed to immortalize the cat and Jeopardy!, but didn’t remember to turn the ice cream toward the front. Clearly I am not a professional grocery photographer.)

I did well! The cashier even said he was going to tell his fiancee about how much I saved, so maybe they could start clipping coupons too. The fever spreads!

  • Whiskas cat treats, two bags, regular $1.99 each, sale two for $3, minus doubled coupon for $1 off two = $1, or 50 cents each
  • Baked Tostitos, regular $3.79, sale $3.50, minus doubled coupon for 55 cents off = $2.40
  • Smart Balance peanut butter, regular $2.95, sale $2.50, minus doubled coupon for $1 off = 50 cents
  • Dole pineapple, three cans, regular $1.15 each, sale 67 cents each, minus doubled coupon for $1 off three = free
  • Dole mandarin oranges, regular $1.55, sale 67 cents
  • Ortega refried beans, three cans, regular $1.29 each, sale $1 each (there was a mix-up with these at the checkout, and at one point the cashier sent me back to get another can — I originally only wanted two. I had a coupon that was supposed to make these two for 50 cents, but I ended up with three for $3; the cashier was super-nice, however, so really it is all a wash)
  • Progresso soup, four cans, regular $2.69 each, sale $1.35 each, minus doubled coupon for $1 off four = $3.40, or 85 cents each
  • Ken’s dressings, two bottles, regular $3.55 each, sale $1.77 each, minus doubled coupon for $1 off two = $1.55, or 78 cents each

  • Uncle Ben’s brown rice, $2.29, minus doubled coupon for $1 off = 29 cents
  • Barbara’s Puffins cereal, regular $4.99 each, sale $3.99 each, minus two doubled coupons for $1 off each = $3.98, or $1.99 each
  • Celestial Seasonings green tea, regular $3.59 each, sale $2.50 each, minus two doubled coupons for $1 off each = $1, or 50 cents each
