Giant offered four “Super Doubler” coupons this week, where they double coupons with a value of $1. It’s not as great as Super Doubles at Harris Teeter, but it’s something.
I’m having surgery on my sinuses on Tuesday, and I wanted to stock up on soft foods I would be able to eat no matter what. Here’s how I did:
After the jump, the glorious details!
Today’s trip:
- Giant honey wheat bread, $2
- Giant milk, $3.69
- Giant eggs, $1.29
- Red Baron Deep Dish Singles pepperoni pizzas, five boxes, regular $4.49 each, sale $3.37 each, minus five doubled coupons for 75 cents off = $9.35, or $1.87 each (Mr. Jones loves these for work lunches, and I love saying “work lunches” with regards to Mr. Jones)
- All detergent, regular $5.79, sale $3.99, minus coupon for $2 off = $1.99
- Angel Soft toilet paper, two packages, $2.99 each, minus doubled coupon for $1 off two = $3.98, or $1.99 each
- Barilla pasta, two boxes, regular $1.49 each, sale $1 each, minus doubled coupon for $1 off two = free
- Campbell’s Healthy Selects soup, two cans, regular $2.50 each, sale $1.50 each, minus doubled coupon for 50 cents off two = two for $2, or $1 each
- Campbell’s vegetarian vegetable soup, four cans, $1.50 each, minus two doubled coupons for 40 cents off two = $4.40, or $1.10 each

- Glade Plugins refill, $3.49
- Marcal Small Steps paper towels, two rolls, $2.19 each, minus two coupons for $1 off each = $1.19 each (these coupons were for one free roll or $1 off a multi-pack, but the checkout lady said they said “up to” $1 off; this has happened twice when I’ve gone to Giant and I haven’t fought it much either time, but secretly I am a tiny bit frustrated; TAKE THAT checkout lady! I am a tiny bit frustrated SO THERE!)
- Progresso soup, four cans, regular $2 each, sale $1 each, minus doubled coupon for $1 off four = four for $3, or 75 cents each
- Giant vegetable soup, two cans, $1 each = $2
- Spaghetti-O’s with meatballs, three cans at three for $4 = $4
- Hormel meat loaf, regular $5.99, sale $4.99, minus coupon for $1.50 off = $3.49
- Country Crock mac and cheese, free with purchase of Hormel meal
- Oscar Mayer Lunchables nachos, regular $2, sale $1.66 (I am weak and wanted nachos)
- Smithfield honey turkey lunch meat, $3, minus doubled coupon for 55 cents off = $1.90
Total paid $58.93; total saved $44.10, or 43 percent. Not bad at all!
