I must say that gift cards are pretty delightful. I went out to run some errands yesterday armed with a coupon for a free McDonald’s smoothie, a coupon for a Free Unmentionable from Victoria’s Secret, and about $8.50 in Rite Aid gift cards. This is what I came home with (minus the smoothie, which I drank [...] Mr. Jones got home from softball today and took some ibuprofen for his knee; as he did, he mentioned that it was the first time in a long time that he’d had to take painkillers. I realized that I too have been painkillerless for weeks. It’s almost like eating more healthfully might be … good [...] It’s true. This Wii was free. So was the game you see there. In fact, we only paid $71 out of pocket for all this stuff. As mentioned, the past few weeks haven’t been the most frugal we’ve ever had at Casa Jones. Which is a good thing, because part of the reason you save money when you can is so you can spend it when you need to, and I count post-op recovery barbecue potato chips firmly in the “need” [...] First things first: Mr. Jones got a job! WOO HOO! I cannot tell you how excited we are. He starts Feb. 8, and I would be lying if I said we weren’t indulging in a little debauchery: We ordered Papa John’s the night we found out, and then last night we went out to eat [...] Our Target recently became a SuperTarget, and I have been shopping there for groceries a time or two. My theory was that they have generally cheaper base prices on most things, but that their sales aren’t as good, since their loss leaders tend to be non-grocery items. Also, they don’t double (or triple, or Super [...] Awhile back, I bought a bunch of Glade candles. I bought a bunch of Glade candles, honestly, because I love candles, and Target’s deal was just too good: buy 5 at $2.50 each, get a $5 gift card. And (of course) there were coupons. That’s already a good deal, but yesterday’s mail brought the second half [...] I’m embarrassed to report that I haven’t been grocery shopping — real, planned, coupon-organized grocery shopping — in two weeks. In my defense, we haven’t needed anything, and the sales have just not been impressive. Also we’ve been busy with the holidays. However, we have bought things since December 13, and because we are cheap, [...] I think we have enough candy now. |
